Every Saturday afternoon between 1:00 and 4:00 pm, the tour guides are happy to take you up to see the vanes and even higher and tell you background information and beautiful stories about the mill. When the wind blows, the millers saw with wind energy in the Zagerij. You can express your appreciation for this living monument afterwards with a contribution to the miller’s donation pot.
Why is the mill on the waterfront? Where does the wood that is cut in this mill come from? What are those rails on the mill yard for? What exactly is that, an upper porter? And were there other windmills like De Ster in Utrecht?
Whether sawing takes place depends on the wind, but during the tour our guides are happy to explain how the mill works. They can also tell hundreds of stories about the history of De Ster. On Saturdays, the guided tours are free of charge and can be as short or long as you wish. Children are very welcome. An English tour is also possible, other languages depend on the knowledge of the tour guide.
A short lecture about the mill or a tour can also be provided during a meeting or wedding in the mill. A maximum of twelve people can join the tour guide per tour. Please contact the mill for more information.
Our tour guides also like to share their knowledge with schoolchildren. It is possible to get a guided tour on a weekday by appointment.
